Wood stove fans heat-powered fans that spread warmth with no power cord
A wood stove fan sits on top of a wood-burning stove and uses the stove’s own heat to spin, pushing warm air into the room instead of letting it rise straight to the ceiling. It needs no batteries or power cord, so it keeps working in a power outage. StormForge supplies heat-powered stove fans to stove and hearth retailers, hardware distributors and private label brands.
- Thermoelectric module — no batteries, no power cord
- 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-blade models (by model)
- Anodized aluminum blades and heat-sink fins
- Optional magnetic stove thermometer bundle
How a heat-powered stove fan works
A thermoelectric (Peltier) module in the base generates a small current from the temperature difference between the hot stovetop and the cooler fins above it. The current drives the motor, so the fan starts as the stove heats up and speeds up as the difference grows. Each model has a stated operating temperature range; the manual should say where to place the fan and to keep it below its maximum base temperature.
Use and safety notes
Packaging should explain the operating temperature range, recommend a stove thermometer, warn that the fan becomes hot, and remind users that a stove fan does not replace proper stove installation, flue maintenance or a CO alarm. Airflow is described per model; we do not claim airflow figures, heating gains or certifications by default — test reports available for a given model can be provided on request. A wood stove fan pairs well with thermal curtains and our emergency preparedness range for outages.
Typical wood stove fan specifications (by model)
| Parameter | Typical options |
|---|---|
| Power source | Thermoelectric module (stove heat) |
| Blades | 2, 3, 4 or 5; anodized aluminum |
| Operating range | Stated per model on the datasheet |
| Bundle | Optional magnetic stove thermometer |
All values confirmed per model; no airflow or heating-gain claim implied.
No certification claimed by default. We do not claim FEMA, Miami-Dade NOA, UL, ETL, IEC, ASTM or any other approval, rating or test result. Products are built to customer-specified standards; test reports can be provided on request where available.
Frequently asked questions
Does a wood stove fan need electricity?
No. It generates its own power from the stove’s heat through a thermoelectric module.
Can a stove fan overheat?
Each model has a maximum base temperature. A stove thermometer helps users stay within the stated range.
