Frost cloth · wholesale & OEM
Frost cloth frost protection fabric in rolls, sheets and plant covers
Frost cloth is a lightweight, breathable fabric laid over plants on cold nights to hold in ground heat and protect foliage from frost. StormForge supplies frost cloth in bulk rolls for nurseries and growers, and in precut sheets and drawstring plant covers for garden-center and e-commerce retail — under your brand.
- Nonwoven spunbond polypropylene, UV-stabilised (by spec)
- Bulk rolls, precut sheets and drawstring plant covers
- Fabric weights approx. 17–60 g/m² (0.5–1.8 oz/yd²)
- Private label bags, header cards and roll labels
How frost cloth protects plants
On clear, still nights the ground radiates heat away and frost forms on exposed leaves. A frost cloth laid loosely over plants — ideally reaching the ground and weighed down at the edges — traps some of that heat and keeps frost off the foliage, while still letting light, air and water through. Heavier fabrics hold more heat; lighter fabrics can stay on longer as season-extension row covers. The amount of protection depends on fabric weight, how the cloth is laid and the conditions, so we do not quote temperature ratings.
Frost cloth formats for wholesale and retail
- Bulk rolls — wide rolls for nurseries, growers and landscapers, cut to length on site.
- Precut sheets — folded sheets in retail bags for home gardeners.
- Drawstring plant covers (plant jackets / shrub covers) — sewn bags that slip over potted plants and shrubs, with a drawstring or zip.
- Row-cover kits — fabric with hoops and pins for raised beds.
Frost cloth sells in the same autumn window as outdoor faucet covers and pipe insulation, so garden and hardware distributors often add it to a mixed freeze-protection order.
What to specify on the RFQ
Fabric weight (g/m² or oz/yd²), width and roll length, color (white is standard), UV stabiliser level, edge finish, and the retail format and pack count. For plant covers, give the cover diameter and height and the closure type. We send fabric samples by weight so you can compare hand-feel and light transmission before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What weight of frost cloth should we stock?
Light weights suit season extension and can stay on longer; heavier weights are bought for frost nights. Many garden retailers stock one light and one heavy weight.
How many degrees of protection does frost cloth give?
It depends on fabric weight, installation and weather, so we do not quote temperature ratings. Listings should describe the weight and intended use.
Can you supply drawstring plant covers?
Yes — sewn covers in several diameters and heights with drawstring or zip closures, under your brand.
Is frost cloth reusable?
Yes, typically for several seasons when dried and stored out of sunlight; UV stabiliser level affects outdoor life.
