How accordion shutters work

Interlocking blades hang from a top track and ride in a bottom track. When open, they stack at one or both sides of the opening; to close, the stack is pulled across and locked at a center mate (bi-parting) or end post. Because the shutter lives on the wall, deployment is fast — the main selling point versus hurricane panels.
