Mylar bags · OEM & wholesale
Mylar bags for food storage barrier bags with oxygen absorbers, private label
Mylar bags are the workhorse of long-term pantry storage: an aluminized, multi-layer barrier bag that keeps light, moisture and — with an oxygen absorber — most oxygen away from dry foods such as rice, beans, oats and flour. StormForge supplies plain and printed mylar bags and oxygen-absorber bundles to preparedness brands, homesteading and outdoor retailers, food-storage sellers and kit assemblers.
- Quart, gallon and 5-gallon class bags; custom sizes on request
- Flat, stand-up (gusseted) and zip-top + heat-seal formats
- Thickness and laminate structure quoted per bag
- Oxygen absorbers in matching capacities, bundled or separate
- Printed or labeled private label bags and retail packs
What mylar bags do
“Mylar” is used loosely for metallized or aluminium-foil laminated polyester bags. The barrier layer blocks light and slows moisture and oxygen transfer far better than ordinary plastic bags. Sealed with a household iron or impulse sealer and paired with an oxygen absorber, a mylar bag is a common way to package dry staples for long-term storage, often placed inside a bucket for physical protection.
Mylar bag formats and sizes
Retail programs usually combine quart and gallon bags (for portioning) with 5-gallon class bags sized to line a food-grade bucket of the buyer’s choosing. Options include flat or stand-up gusseted bags, a zip-top above the heat-seal area for re-closing after opening, tear notches, windows (with reduced barrier) and matte or glossy finishes. Thickness and laminate structure — for example PET/AL/PE versus metallized films — are quoted per bag; we state the structure rather than a shelf-life figure.
Oxygen absorbers
Oxygen absorbers are iron-powder sachets that bind most of the oxygen left in a sealed bag. They are rated by capacity (in cc of oxygen) and should be sized to the bag volume and the food’s density using the absorber supplier’s guidance. We supply absorbers in sealed strips or jars and can bundle a matching absorber count with each bag size. Packaging should tell users to keep unused absorbers sealed, work quickly once a pack is opened, and use absorbers only with dry, low-moisture foods — official food-safety guidance in the user’s country should be followed for anything else.
Food contact and claims, honestly
We do not assert FDA food-contact compliance, food-grade status, BPA-free status or any shelf-life figure by default. Film structures and inks are built to the specification you set, and material declarations or test reports available for a given structure can be provided on request. Shelf-life statements on retail packaging should come from your own compliance and food-safety review, not from us.
Bundles and kits
Mylar bags sell well beside water storage containers, emergency blankets and lighting, and they are a staple in the emergency kit programs we assemble. See the emergency water storage guide for the water side of a pantry plan.

Frequently asked questions
Do you supply oxygen absorbers with the bags?
Yes — absorbers can be bundled in matching counts or supplied separately in sealed packs.
How long will food last in your mylar bags?
We do not publish shelf-life figures; storage life depends on the food, moisture, temperature, sealing and absorber sizing. Shelf-life statements should come from your own food-safety review.
Are the bags food-grade or FDA compliant?
We do not assert food-grade or FDA compliance by default. Structures are built to your specification and material declarations or test reports can be provided on request where available.
Can you print our logo and instructions?
Yes, printed bags with logo, fill-date panel and usage instructions are available.
