Emergency blanket types

Foil space blankets are aluminized PET film, folded into a pocket-sized pack — the low-cost choice for kits and first-aid boxes. Reusable emergency blankets laminate a reflective layer to a tougher woven or coated backing, with grommets so they double as a ground sheet or shelter. Bivvy bags are a reflective sleeping-bag shape that is easier to stay inside. A bright orange face helps visibility; silver reflects heat back toward the user.

What we claim — and what we don’t

Reflective blankets reduce heat loss from radiation, wind and wet, but how warm a person stays depends on clothing, insulation from the ground and conditions. We do not publish “percent of body heat retained” figures or medical claims, and an emergency blanket is not a substitute for medical care. Packaging should warn users to keep the blanket away from open flames and heat sources, that the film can conduct electricity (keep away from power lines and live electrical equipment), and that it is not a toy — keep away from small children because of suffocation risk.

Emergency blankets in kits

Blankets are a standard line in every emergency kit and earthquake kit, and pair naturally with lanterns, hand crank radios and mylar food storage bags. For staying warm at home in an outage, see also our winter storm & heating range.

Can you pack blankets for our kits?

Yes, in bulk counts for your kit line or inside kits we assemble.
