Solar lanterns LED lanterns that recharge from daylight

A solar lantern charges its built-in battery from daylight and gives LED light after dark — useful in multi-day power outages, at campsites and in off-grid homes where spare batteries are hard to come by. StormForge supplies solar lanterns to preparedness and outdoor brands, retailers, NGOs’ procurement partners and distributors.

  • Built-in solar panel with rechargeable Li-ion or NiMH battery (by model)
  • Collapsible, inflatable and rigid hanging lanterns
  • Multiple brightness modes; USB charge-in and charge-out on some models
  • Water resistance described per model
  • Private label colors, logos and packaging

Solar lantern types

Collapsible lanterns fold flat for kits and backpacks; inflatable lanterns are very light and diffuse light well; rigid hanging lanterns with a top panel and handle suit tents, porches and outage use. Many models add a USB input so they can also be topped up from a power bank or wall adapter, and some add a USB output to give a phone a small top-up.

Solar vs battery lantern

  • Solar lantern (this page): recharges from daylight through a built-in panel; best for multi-day outages, camping, gardens and off-grid use where spare batteries are hard to get. Needs sun to recover.
  • Battery operated lantern: runs on replaceable AA, AAA or D cells (or a rechargeable pack); instant light from a drawer or kit, no charging needed, easy to resupply from any store.

Many preparedness programs stock both: a solar lantern for long outages and a battery operated lantern for instant, no-sun backup.

Charging and run time, honestly

Solar charging time and light output depend on panel size, battery capacity, sunlight, season and the brightness mode used. We provide per-model datasheet values from the factory for your review; we do not advertise generic “hours of light” figures. Packaging should tell users to charge in direct sunlight before storing and to recharge periodically, because batteries slowly self-discharge.

Compliance

Lanterns contain batteries and electronics regulated differently by market. We do not claim FCC, CE, UL or any other certification by default; products are built to the standards you specify, and test reports available for a given model can be provided on request. Lithium-battery shipping documentation is provided as required.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a solar lantern last on a full charge?

It depends on battery capacity and brightness mode; we provide per-model datasheet values rather than generic figures.

Does it charge on cloudy days?

Charging slows considerably in weak light. Models with a USB input can also be charged from a power bank or wall adapter.

Solar or battery lantern for an emergency kit?

Solar suits long outages; a battery operated lantern gives instant light without sun. Many kits include one of each.

Are your radios and lanterns FCC, CE or UL certified?

We do not claim FCC, CE, UL or any other certification or test result by default. Products are built to the standards you specify on the RFQ, and test reports available for a given model can be provided on request. Radio, battery and labeling compliance for your market remains the brand owner’s responsibility.
